Who won SAW PATROL weekend?

‘PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,’ ‘Saw X’ and ‘The Creator’ lead a weekend of new releases.

Who won SAW PATROL weekend?
I dunno. It’s PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. / Paramount Pictures

Hello! Welcome to The Box Office Report for the weekend of Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023.

1. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie

Weekend gross: $23M
Total domestic gross: $23M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

Three new releases battled it out for a box office win as September turned to October. Turns out SAW Patrol weekend didn’t have the same oomph as Barbenheimer. The second theatrically released PAW Patrol movie came out on top, grossing $23 million.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie improved on the $13.1 million that PAW Patrol: The Movie debuted with in 2021.

2. Saw X

Weekend gross: $18M
Total domestic gross: $18M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

The Saw franchise has been quieter the past few years. After Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV and Saw V all opened with $30M+ weekends, the series has struggled to get back into that range. Jigsaw dropped to a $16.6 million opening weekend in 2017 and Spiral opened with $8.6 million in 2021. Saw X pretty much matched the $18.3 million that the original Saw movie debuted with in 2004.

3. The Creator

Weekend gross: $14M
Total domestic gross: $14M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

Dang. I was hoping to see The Creator open much bigger than the $14 million it brought it this weekend. It definitely didn’t live up to director Gareth Edwards’ last two debuts — Rogue One’s $155.1 million in 2016 and Godzilla’s $93.2 million in 2014 — but it did manage to outgross the $5,639,730 lifetime haul of Monsters.

4. The Nun II

Weekend gross: $4.7M
Total domestic gross: $76.7M
Last weekend: 1st
Percent drop: 45

The top five’s only holdout from last weekend, The Nun II dropped to fourth. The film ticks past Annabelle Comes Home ($74.2 million) to move into sixth place on the Conjuring universe’s domestic all-time chart.

5. The Blind

Weekend gross: $4.1M
Total domestic gross: $5M
Last weekend: New release
Percent drop: NA

The Blind doesn’t have a Wikipedia page, so I had to dig around to see what this one was about. The best I can gather is that it’s about Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson?
